Fr. Morey and I will return from the annual Diocesan Priest Retreat on Saturday, 19 October. There are NO DAILY MASSES THE WEEK of 14 OCTOBER.
Let us not forget our brothers and sisters in other parts of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and Tennessee. Let's all do what we can to help within our means. Bishop Fabre authorized an annual collection to be taken up each August for Disaster Relief. This collection was taken up the weekend of 10-11 August this year. Because of the needs present after Hurricane Helene and Milton, further donations are welcome for Disaster Relief. Should you choose to do so, please send your check to:

This is the 3rd Sunday of the Month. I will offer a blessing after all Masses for couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries during the month of October. Please stand for the blessing when invited to do so.
Faith Formation is back in session this Sunday!
Throughout the month of November beginning on 02 November, the Parish will offer prayers and Masses for all the Faithful Departed. Envelopes can be found in your OSV Envelope Sets or special envelopes marked “All Souls Day” can be found on the Offertory Table in the Narthex. Parishioners can use them to include the names of their deceased relatives and friends. Once completed, please place in the Collection Basket. These envelopes will stay on the altar for the month of November.
The Solemnity of All Saints is a Holy Day of Obligation: We will have a Vigil Mass on 31 October at 6:30PM and Holy Day Masses on 1 November at 12Noon & 6:30PM (Traditional Latin Mass). The Parish Office will be closed on 1 November. Read more about this solemnity HERE.
On First Saturday, 02 November, after the 12 Noon Mass, the Parish will hold the Annual Visit to Our Lady of the Lake’s Cemetery in honor of All Souls Day. This is a special day the Church sets aside for the faithful to visit a cemetery and to remember the Faithful Departed. Your deceased loved ones and friends need not be buried in the Parish Cemetery to come and remember them.
We will have Adoration after the 12 Noon Mass on First Friday, 01 November until just before the 12 Noon Mass on First Saturday, 02 November, to pray for the National Elections on 05 November.
The All Saints Festival has important information for you. This is a wonderful event with fun for all our parishioners. Signup today! (Signup is needed to ensure food for all!!!)
It is that time of year when we have a lot of outreach going on to the greater Chapin Community. The Women's Club Baby Shower for Birthright and the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids Campaign have both begun. We are also supporting the Wreaths Across America program, assisted by Scout Troop 815, if you would like to place a wreath on a veteran's grave this Christmas Season.
The Pumpkin Patch is back! Scout Troop 815, with support from the Our Lady of the Lake Men’s Club, is hosting the 7th Annual Pumpkin Patch from 28 September to 31 October. This worthwhile event enables the Troop to provide unique experiences in outdoor activities to include camping, hiking and high adventure, while building strong moral character and leadership skills in the young men and women who are members of Scouting America. Many thanks to all those who made the Men's Club OLL SCHOLARSHIP OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT last Friday, 11 October, a tremendous success! A great time was had by all who participated.
2024 Catholic Appeal of South Carolina (CASC):
As of 08 October 328 families have made one time gifts and pledges totaling $124,882. This represents 213% of our goal of $58,503. An additional $10,896 is pledged but it is not included in our total until the monies are received. If all of the current pledges are paid in full we will reach 232% of our goal!!! Bishop Fabre-Jeune has challenged all parishes in the diocese to exceed 25% participation. Our Lady of the Lake is currently at 35 percent participation.
Please do not use the Offertory Table in the center of the Narthex (the large wooden table in the "entrance lobby") as a work table or a convenient place to rest your personal items. This table is reserved for the Offertory Gifts at Mass and for items pertaining to our Parish Life. Thank you for your cooperation on this matter.

CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
The installation of the new, more robust chair lift for the staircase to the choir loft is delayed due to a missing part!!! We hope to hear soon about a new installation date.
We continue to move forward with an extensive upgrade to our sound system in the church. Hopefully the new system will be installed this month. A major improvement will be a wireless hearing assistance system that will enable WiFi enabled hearing aids to stream sound directly to the hearing aid using the ListenWiFi App on any smartphone. Download the app now to be ready to use this system: APPLE, GOOGLE or ANDROID.
The work sacristy in the church is having additional cabinets installed at the end of this month.
Bishop Fabre-Jeune has asked that we delay our project to install moveable Altar Rails for the Sanctuary. It is my hope that this delay will not be long! To understand some of the benefits of installing Altar Rails at Our Lady of the Lake please read this ARTICLE.
Future plans for the fountain in front of the church are to extend the plaza in front of the church with pavers so as to include the area around the fountain. We will raise funds to complete this project by selling pavers to be inscribed with family names, in honor of, or in memorial. We are very close to finalizing pricing for the pavers.
PARISH FINANCIAL UPDATES
Last Sunday's collection was $21,076! The results of Hurricane Helene continue to affect all of us and while most of us have recovered there are still some adjustments being made. (Especially for families!!!) We thank all those who increased their weekly giving to help make up the losses from the storm. Let us continue to remember all those who are still suffering from the results of Helene and let us do all we can to help others in need. Thank you for your continued generosity to the parish and to one another.

CHILDREN'S ENVELOPE ARTWORK
We encourage all our parish children to use their envelopes at the Sunday Morning Masses. Children can make a monetary donation or just write something on the envelope; a good deed, a prayer, artwork, etc. Father Dennis will hold a basket and invite the children to come forward at the appropriate time. If you have forgotten an envelope or need more, they are available in the Narthex.

The Diocesan Respect Life Ministry invites everyone to support 40 Days for Life by giving an hour in prayer daily from 7:00AM until 7:00PM at Planned Parenthood in Columbia. If you can't stay for one hour then any time you can give in prayer is still efficacious and will help save lives!
Bishop’s Call to Pray and Fast
Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, has requested that all the faithful in South Carolina join him weekly in praying the rosary leading up to the general election. He would like everyone to pray for the upcoming election, peace in our nation and the rededication of the United States to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
“In October, the Church celebrates the Month of the Holy Rosary. We remember in a special way the Battle of Lepanto when, losing all hope of victory, Pope St. Pius V urged the faithful to pray the rosary. A miraculous victory was won Oct. 7, 1571, thanks to the power of this prayer and the intercession of Mary.
“As your bishop, I ask that each family make an effort to pray the rosary at least once a week throughout the month of October and in the days leading up to the general election and beyond. Parents, if possible, pray at least a decade of this beautiful prayer each day with your children. Be assured that the sacrifice of your time for this devotion will be multiplied. You will not regret leading your family in prayer.”
Additionally, Bishop Fabre is calling for a day of prayer and fasting on the Solemnity of All Saints, Nov. 1. While not common to fast on a solemnity, the contentiousness of this election season and its potential outcome requires of us steadfast prayer and penitence.
