We have received permission from our bishop to return to the distribution of the Precious Blood at Holy Communion but will not be able to do so until we have enough volunteer Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMOHC's) for all the Masses!!!We need a minimum of 56 dedicated EMOHC's in order to return to receiving the Precious Blood. Currently we have less than 20. With 56 volunteer EMOHC's we would be asking each person to cover one Mass twice a month. Currently, our dedicated group of 20 serves every week. Please volunteer today!!!
Please email me to discuss how you might be able to help our parish as a volunteer. Thank you in advance!
Totus Tuus, our summer youth experience, concludes on Friday, 9 June. Many thanks to our Totus Tuus Missionaries for a splendid week and to our Faith Formation Team for making it all happen!

The diocese currently has 20 seminarians for the 2023-24 academic year.
Of the 20, 5 are college seminarians, 3 are pre-theologians, and 12 are theologians.
Seminary formation can take anywhere from 6-10 years of formation depending on the person.
We currently have seminarians in Latrobe, PA, Boynton Beach, FL, Miami, FL, and Washington, DC.
We ordained one priest this year and 2 transitional deacons.
The average cost to the diocese per seminarian per year is about $46k.
The primary sources of revenue to form seminarians comes from the Catholic Appeal of South Carolina (formerly the BAA) and the seminarian collection for this weekend. However, those sources of revenue have not kept pace with increasing number of seminarians and associated costs.
Diocese of Charleston celebrates new vocations
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston is pleased to announce that we have several new seminarians beginning studies this year. These young men are discerning the call to serve God and his Church, and we are excited to see where their journeys will take them.
As a diocese, we are committed to supporting those who feel called to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life. We believe that the priesthood is a sacred calling, and we provide our seminarians with the education, formation and guidance they need to become effective and holy priests.
We are pleased to report that our renewed efforts to promote vocations and support our seminarians have been successful. Presently, we have 17 men in formation with several new men entering seminary this year. We are confident that they will make lasting contributions to our diocese and to the universal Church.
According to the Office of Vocations, Philippe Dubourdieu, member of Stella Maris Church on Sullivan’s Island, will enter second theology at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Colin Doering, who is returning to seminary as a college sophomore, will attend St. John Vianney Seminary in Miami, Florida. Additionally, Marc D’Angelo from Precious Blood of Christ Church in Pawleys Island will enter his propaedeutic year at St. Vincent de Paul Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida. Jack Curtis from Prince of Peace Church in Taylors and John McBurney from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Charleston will both enter their propaedeutic year at St. John Vianney Seminary.
"The new vocations and seminarians entering our program represent the future of the Church and the shepherds of the flock of South Carolina,” stated Most Rev. Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, Bishop of Charleston. “By answering the call to serve God and his people, they are taking an important step in their journey of faith. We are excited to see how they will use their unique talents and experiences to bring the light of Christ to our communities and beyond. Let us pray for them and support them as they prepare for a lifetime of service to others and the Catholic Church.”
We ask the state to unite with us in prayer for these young men as they begin this important, life-changing journey. May they be blessed with wisdom, courage and perseverance as they discern God's will for their lives and prepare for a lifetime of service to the Church.
Mass for the Feast of St. John the Baptist
Please save the date: Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, will celebrate a Mass to commemorate the feast of our diocesan patron, St. John the Baptist. It will be held 25 June at 11:15 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad Street in Charleston. All are invited to attend. Read this LETTER from Bishop Fabre-Jeune regarding this feast day.
National Eucharistic Revival
The National Eucharistic Revival is the joyful, expectant, grassroots response of the entire Catholic Church in the United States to the divine invitation of re-centering our lives on the Real Presence of the Eucharist. In South Carolina, this movement seeks to ignite fervor for the Most Blessed Sacrament in the hearts of faithful through teaching, practice and evangelization. HEALTH PROTOCOLS at OLL!
Masks are still being provided in the narthex. If you are feeling unwell we ask that you stay home and watch Mass through our Parish Live Stream. If you are unsure please wear a Mask to spare others from possibly sharing your germs. We are asking that shaking hands, hugging, or kissing be reserved to immediate family members only. Please continue to smile and wave to non-family members around you in the pews rather than extending your hand for the Sign of Peace.
We live stream the Sunday 10:30AM Mass using BOXCASTand FACEBOOK-LIVE. Links are also provided on our parish web site and in the
Weekly Reminder.
Prayer of Spiritual Communion:
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen
